Money math
Calculators work in integer paise so rupee rounding does not drift. EMI, SIP, GST, and MSMED outputs are checked against known values before a tool ships (for example, a ₹10 lakh loan at 9% for 20 years is about ₹8,997 EMI). If a live Bank Rate or GST slab changes, the page should say so and date the review.
Primary sources
- NPCI for UPI interoperability, reason-code families, and MDR / interchange notes that apply across PSPs.
- RBI for TAT on failed credits (circular DPSS.CO.PD No.629/02.01.014/2019-20: P2P T+1, P2M T+5, ₹100/day compensation) and for the Bank Rate used in MSMED interest.
- Bank and app pages for per-bank daily limits, PhonePe/GPay Business KYC menus, and soundbox rents — always as “as of [date]” because they move without a public changelog.
App wrapper text such as “NPCI returned error” is not treated as a single code. We look up the two-character reason (U16, Z9, ZM) on the error resolver.
UPI MDR
Standard bank-to-bank UPI has 0% MDR. RuPay credit card on UPI above ₹2,000 may carry interchange. Those two sentences must not be collapsed into “UPI is always free for the merchant.”
What we test
Generated QRs are test-scanned in major UPI apps when a print or generator guide is updated. We do not publish mocked PhonePe or GPay UI. Where a field is recorded, testedApplications on the article lists the apps used. Menu labels still change; the page should say to confirm inside the app.
Review cadence
Priority financial pages (limits, error codes, MSMED, MDR) should be reviewed at least every 180 days, or sooner after a circular. The article header shows published, updated, and last-reviewed dates when those fields exist. A missing date means we have not yet backfilled that article — it is not a claim of perpetual accuracy.
