Cash counting questions
How do shopkeepers count cash at the end of the day?
Count the drawer by note and coin, then fill opening float, cash sales, UPI, card, petty cash and any bank deposit. Expected cash is opening + cash sales − petty − deposit. Variance is counted minus expected — the number you actually argue about at lock-up.
What is a good cash variance limit for a shop?
Many retailers investigate any shortage beyond ₹50–₹100 per shift per counter, since recurring small shortages usually point to billing mistakes rather than theft. Recording variance daily with a summary like this makes patterns visible within a week.
Does my cash data get uploaded anywhere?
