Use Pro UPI QR inside Claude

Add one URL to Claude and ask in plain words: make a UPI QR for ₹499, explain error U30, work out GST on ₹12,000. Claude calls our tools and answers with exact amounts, a scannable QR, and a link to print the poster. The tools are read-only and nothing you send is stored.

Add it in two minutes

  1. Copy the server URL

    Copy https://www.proupiqr.in/mcp/. It needs no API key and no sign-in.

  2. Add a custom connector in Claude

    In Claude on the web or desktop, open Customize → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it Pro UPI QR, paste the URL and pick No sign-in. Free plans allow one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web.

  3. Turn it on in a chat and ask

    Enable Pro UPI QR from the tools menu in a chat, then ask in plain words, for example: make a UPI QR for ₹499 to ramesh@okaxis.

Any app that adds remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP can use the same URL with no authentication.

Support and troubleshooting

  • "Couldn't connect" or a redirect error: use exactly https://www.proupiqr.in/mcp/, with www and the trailing slash.
  • 405 when you open the URL: normal. The server answers MCP requests (POST); a browser just shows a short note.
  • "Too many requests": a short safety limit against runaway loops. Wait a minute and ask again.
  • A tool says a value is wrong: the reply explains what to fix, such as a UPI ID that needs the name@bank form.

  • Create UPI payment link

    Create a UPI payment link (upi://pay) for an Indian UPI ID. On a phone it opens PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM or any UPI app with the payee, amount and note filled in. Use it to collect a payment, split a bill or put on an invoice. Returns the link and a proupiqr.in page with its QR code and printable poster. Amounts are exact to the paisa; nothing is stored. It never moves money: the payer approves the payment in their own UPI app.

    Generate a UPI payment QR code (PNG image) for an Indian UPI ID that PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM and every UPI app can scan, optionally with a fixed amount and note. Also returns the upi:// link and a proupiqr.in page to download a printable counter poster or stickers. Nothing is stored. It never moves money: the payer approves the payment in their own UPI app.

  • Read and check a UPI link

    Read a UPI payment link (the upi://pay… text inside a payment QR code) and check it: who gets paid, the amount, the note and any merchant fields, with warnings about anything malformed or risky, such as an AutoPay mandate posing as a payment. Exact to the paisa.

  • Calculate UPI MDR

    Work out the UPI merchant discount rate (MDR) on a payment under the rules from 15 October 2026: 0.4% on person-to-merchant UPI payments above ₹2,000 (capped at ₹300), a flat ₹5 for essential-sector merchants and 0.02% for capital markets. Person-to-person payments, payments of ₹2,000 or less and small P2PM merchants (up to ₹1 lakh a month) pay nothing. Shows the 18% GST on the MDR and what the merchant keeps.

    Write a rupee amount in words the Indian way (lakh and crore), as on invoices, receipts and cheques. For example 125050.50 → "One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Fifty Rupees and Fifty Paise Only".

What happens to your data

  • Used, then discarded. UPI IDs, names, amounts and links you send are used to compute the reply. Nothing is written to a database or log.
  • Counted, not tracked. We keep one daily total of tool calls, with no identifiers.
  • Limits. 300 tool calls a minute per network address, kept as a one-minute hashed counter, so a stuck loop can't run up the bill. Claude's shared Anthropic addresses get one larger shared allowance.
  • Poster links stay on your device. The payment rides after the # in the link, which browsers never send to a server.

For developers

  • Streamable HTTP at https://www.proupiqr.in/mcp/. Each POST gets one JSON reply; no SSE stream, no sessions.
  • Protocol 2026-07-28 (per-request metadata, server/discover) and 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26 (initialize handshake).
  • Errors follow the spec: header mismatches return 400 with code -32020, unsupported versions 400 with -32022 and the supported list.

Questions

Is the Pro UPI QR MCP server free?

Yes. Every tool is free, needs no account and no API key, and stays that way. It's the same free toolkit as the website, reachable from Claude.

Can Claude move money with it?

No. The tools only compute answers: they build upi://pay links and QR images, read links, and do GST, MSMED and MDR arithmetic. Money moves only when a payer opens their own UPI app and enters their UPI PIN.

What happens to the UPI ID, names and amounts I send?

They are used to compute the reply and then discarded. Nothing is written to a database or log. We count how many tool calls happen each day, as one total, and keep a hashed network address for a minute to stop runaway loops.

Does it work with other AI apps?

Any app that can add a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP can use the same URL, with no authentication. In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http proupiqr https://www.proupiqr.in/mcp/

Why not just ask Claude to write the UPI link?

The tools return a correctly encoded upi://pay link and a real, scannable QR image, do money arithmetic in whole paise, and use maintained data: the NPCI error-code list and the current RBI Bank Rate for MSMED interest.
