What is a delivery challan?
A delivery challan (DC) is a transport document that accompanies goods in transit. It records what is being shipped, from whom, to whom, by which vehicle, and is often cross-referenced with an e-way bill. It is not a tax invoice — it records only the contents and movement, not the value for tax purposes.
Do I need a separate delivery challan with an e-way bill?
An e-way bill is mandatory for inter-state movement of goods above ₹50,000. A delivery challan provides additional detail — the items packed, the transporter, and vehicle details — and is often required by the buyer at the receiving gate alongside the e-way bill and tax invoice.
