Merchant & QR
What is Bharat QR?
Bharat QR (EMVCo merchant QR) · भारत QR
Bank-issued merchant QR that can carry UPI and card rails — not the everyday upi://pay standee shops print themselves.
Bharat QR is an EMVCo-based acceptance QR issued by acquiring banks. In principle it can accept UPI plus RuPay, Visa, and Mastercard on one print. UPI QR is a different object: a matrix of the NPCI upi://pay URI that any member app already scans.
RBI ATM & Card statistics still show Bharat QR stock as a small fraction of UPI QR. A kirana that only needs PhonePe, GPay, Paytm, and BHIM scans does not need Bharat QR. Searching “NPCI QR code generator” usually means a UPI QR, not Bharat QR.
You cannot DIY a genuine Bharat QR from a website form. Ask the acquiring bank. You can DIY a UPI QR from any live VPA.
Bharat QR: quick answers

No. UPI QR is upi://pay. Bharat QR is a bank-issued EMVCo code that may also accept cards.
Should my shop print Bharat QR?
Only if your bank issued one and you need card-on-QR. For UPI-only counters, a standard UPI standee is enough.
