What is GSTIN?
GST Identification Number · जीएसटीआईएन
The 15-character GST registration number every taxable supplier prints on invoices.
Structure: two digits of state code, ten characters of PAN, an entity code, the letter Z (default), and a checksum letter — e.g., 29ABCDE1234F1Z5 for a Karnataka entity. B2B buyers need your GSTIN to claim input credit; wrong GSTIN = their credit bounces.
Registration becomes compulsory once aggregate turnover crosses threshold limits (₹40 lakh goods / ₹20 lakh services, lower in special-category states), though voluntary registration is common for input-credit benefits.
