What is Collect Request?

A 'request for money' pushed to a payer's app, which they approve with their UPI PIN.
Instead of sending money, a collect request asks for it: you enter the payer's VPA, an amount, and a remark; their app pings them for approval. Nothing moves until they tap Pay and enter their own PIN.
This flow powers rent reminders and small-business billing — but it is also the backbone of UPI fraud. Fraudsters send fake 'refund' or 'cashback' approvals expecting you to enter your PIN. Remember the direction: entering your PIN means money LEAVES your account. Receiving money never requires a PIN.
