FAQ

MSME receivables questions

What does the MSME receivables tool do?

It helps micro and small enterprise suppliers track unpaid invoices by age, calculate delayed-payment interest at 19.5% p.a. (3× the RBI Bank Rate), and generate a formal Section 16 demand letter that can be used before filing with an MSE Facilitation Council.

How is MSMED interest calculated?

The MSMED Act mandates compound interest at three times the RBI Bank Rate (currently 6.5% × 3 = 19.5% p.a. with monthly rests) on delayed payments beyond the agreed credit period, capped at 45 days. This tool uses exact integer arithmetic for every invoice and computes both simple and monthly-compounded figures.

Can I file the demand letter directly with the Council?

Yes. The demand letter serves as a pre-litigation notice under Section 16. After sending it, if the buyer does not pay within 15 days, you can file a reference before the MSE Facilitation Council for your state through the SAMADHAAN portal (samadhaan.msme.gov.in). The Council can award interest with monthly compounding and enforce it as a civil court decree.

Is my invoice data safe?

Yes. All invoice entries and supplier details stay in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is uploaded to any server. The demand letter and aging report are generated entirely on your device.

Legal notice: This tool computes indicative interest and drafts a letter based on published MSMED provisions and RBI Bank Rate notifications. It is not legal advice. Verify your Udyam registration, confirm the current Bank Rate on rbi.org.in, and file through samadhaan.msme.gov.in. Last reviewed 2026-08-29 by Kunal Siyag.
