How to Print Durable, Waterproof QR Stickers for Your Shop
Vinyl, sunboard, and matte lamination for outdoor UPI QR stickers — DPI, quiet zone, contrast, and why glossy film fails in sunlight.
Paper QR codes on auto-rickshaws, tea stalls, and delivery boxes fail for boring reasons: rain, sun, oil, and glossy glare. Print on matte vinyl, mount on sunboard if you need rigidity, keep a white quiet zone, and test-scan in the same light the customer will use.

Why paper prints die outdoors
- Sun fades dye inks until the modules lose contrast.
- Water curls paper and bleeds inkjet.
- Wiping a billing desk scratches unprotected toner.
- Glossy lamination is a mirror for sunlight and phone torches.

Generate the file with the sticker sheet tool or a single poster from the main generator.
Print spec
- 300 DPI minimum. Do not “enhance” or sharpen in the printer driver.
- Quiet zone ≥ 0.25 in of light margin around the QR.
- Dark on light. Black, deep navy, or forest on white. Avoid inverted (white-on-black) codes; some cameras fail them.
- No extra logos inside the QR square. Put PhonePe/GPay marks in the header, not over modules.
- After print: two-app test, then tamper-proof the mount.
Frequently asked questions
Q1. Will a laminated paper QR survive the monsoon on an auto?
Not reliably. Use matte vinyl, preferably on a small sunboard with holes for string or screws.
Q2. Can I use transparent sticker paper?
Only if the wall behind it is plain light and even. Patterned metal or wood showing through the modules will break the code. Opaque matte vinyl is safer.
Q3. How often should I reprint?
Whenever contrast drops, the corner lifts, or you cannot scan from the normal customer distance. Keep the PNG/PDF so a reprint is a 10-minute job.
